सूत उवाच । अथ संक्षेपतो वक्ष्ये पुराणानामनुक्रमम् । लक्षणं चैव संख्यां च उक्तभेदांस्तथैव च
sūta uvāca | atha saṃkṣepato vakṣye purāṇānāmanukramam | lakṣaṇaṃ caiva saṃkhyāṃ ca uktabhedāṃstathaiva ca
സൂതൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഇപ്പോൾ ഞാൻ സംക്ഷേപമായി പുരാണങ്ങളുടെ അനുക്രമം, അവയുടെ ലക്ഷണം, എണ്ണം, കൂടാതെ പ്രസിദ്ധമായ വിഭാഗഭേദങ്ങളും പറയും।
