आदित्यवर्णो भुवनस्य गोप्ता अपूर्व एष प्रथमः सुराणाम् । हिरण्यगर्भः पुरुषो महात्मा स पठ्यते वै तमसः परस्तात्
ādityavarṇo bhuvanasya goptā apūrva eṣa prathamaḥ surāṇām | hiraṇyagarbhaḥ puruṣo mahātmā sa paṭhyate vai tamasaḥ parastāt
ആദിത്യവർണ്ണനായി, ഭുവനത്തിന്റെ രക്ഷകനായി—അപൂർവ്വൻ, ദേവന്മാരിൽ ആദ്യൻ—അവൻ ഹിരണ്യഗർഭനായ മഹാത്മപുരുഷൻ; അവൻ നിശ്ചയമായി തമസ്സിന്റെ (അന്ധകാരത്തിന്റെ) അപ്പുറത്തുള്ളവനെന്നു പാരായണം ചെയ്യപ്പെടുന്നു.
