ya evaṃ bhaktiyuktastu śrutvā śāstramanuttamam | pūjayedupadeṣṭāraṃ sa śaivaṃ padamāpnuyāt
Sūta (Lomaharṣaṇa) to the sages (contextual attribution within Purāṇic narration)
Tirtha: Dvārakā
Type: kshetra
Listener: Śaunaka and other sages
Scene: A devotee, hands folded, listens to an exalted discourse; then performs āratī and offers garlands and dakṣiṇā to the teacher; behind them a subtle vision of Śiva’s abode—white radiance, trident emblem, serene Śiva—signifying ‘śaiva-pada’.
Devotional listening to scripture becomes complete when one honors the teacher; this leads to Śaiva liberation.
Within the Dvārakā Māhātmya setting, the merit is framed in the sacred context of Dvārakā and its Purāṇic hearing tradition.
After hearing the teaching, one should perform guru-pūjā—honoring the upadeṣṭā (instructor).
