Pitṛs/ancestors (or departed beings) addressing the listener as ‘vatsa’ within the narrative
Tirtha: Dvādaśī-vrata within Prabhāsa–Dvārakā mahatmya frame
Type: kshetra
Listener: Vatsa/putra (child/disciple)
Scene: An elder speaks to a child/disciple with sorrow: a calendar-marked Dvādaśī is shown; behind them, a dim vision of Yama’s realm with closed gates, symbolizing ‘no exit seen’ due to flawed vow.
Vows must be performed correctly and timely; negligence or defect is said to obstruct post-death upliftment.
The verse is embedded in the Prabhāsa–Dvārakā māhātmya framework, where vows and pilgrimage together yield merit.
Performance of the Dvādaśī-vrata; it implies careful, faultless observance to gain release from Yama’s realm.
