prathamaṃ keśavaḥ pūjyaḥ paścāddevo maheśvaraḥ | pūjanīyāśca bhaktyā vai yāścānyāḥ saṃti devatāḥ
Pretas (Candraśarman’s forefathers)
Tirtha: Dvārakā
Type: kshetra
Listener: The addressed ‘son’/interlocutor
Scene: A pilgrim performs pūjā in sequence: first before Keśava’s image with śaṅkha-cakra, then at a Śiva-liṅga, then at smaller devatā shrines—each with folded hands and equal reverence, but with clear order. The scene feels orderly and serene.
The text teaches a hierarchy of worship in this context: Keśava as primary, followed by Maheśvara, while affirming devotional respect for all deities.
Dvārakā Māhātmya frames Dvārakā as a Keśava-centered sacred landscape that still accommodates reverent worship of other devatās.
A practical sequence for pūjā: worship Keśava first, then Maheśvara, then other deities with bhakti.
