yasmādbheka tvayā mūḍha devebhyo'haṃ niveditaḥ | tasmāttvaṃ bhavitā nūnaṃ vijihvo'tra dharātale
Agni (Vahni)
Type: kund
Listener: Bheka (frog)
Scene: Agni, blazing and stern, points toward the frog; the frog recoils, mouth open as if to speak, while the tongue is symbolically shown fading or bound by a fiery thread; devas watch in tense silence.
Improper or harmful disclosure and betrayal can rebound; purāṇic narratives often portray speech as a potent karmic instrument.
The setting remains the jalāśaya in Nāgarakhaṇḍa’s Tīrthamāhātmya; this verse itself does not name the tīrtha.
No ritual instruction is given; it is a direct statement of the curse’s consequence.
