ततो नागबिलः ख्यातः स सर्वस्मिन्धरातले । गतागतेन नागानां स वल्मीको द्विजोत्तमाः
tato nāgabilaḥ khyātaḥ sa sarvasmindharātale | gatāgatena nāgānāṃ sa valmīko dvijottamāḥ
അതുകൊണ്ട്, ഹേ ദ്വിജോത്തമാ! നാഗങ്ങളുടെ നിരന്തര ഗതാഗതം മൂലം ആ വൽമീകം സർവ്വ ഭൂമിയിലും ‘നാഗബില’ എന്ന നാമത്തിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധമായി।
