पिता तस्य पुरा विप्रा जमदग्निर्निपातितः । क्षत्रियेण स्वधर्मस्थो विना दोषं द्विजोत्तमाः
pitā tasya purā viprā jamadagnirnipātitaḥ | kṣatriyeṇa svadharmastho vinā doṣaṃ dvijottamāḥ
പണ്ടുകാലത്ത്, ഹേ വിപ്രന്മാരേ, അവന്റെ പിതാവായ ജമദഗ്നി ഒരു ക്ഷത്രിയനാൽ വധിക്കപ്പെട്ടു; ആ ശ്രേഷ്ഠ ദ്വിജൻ സ്വധർമ്മത്തിൽ നിലകൊണ്ട നിർദോഷനായിരുന്നു।
