देवशर्मोवाच । कामं त्यजत मां सर्वे यूयमन्येऽपि ये द्विजाः । मयैवास्य प्रतिज्ञातं भोक्तुं श्राद्धे महीपतेः
devaśarmovāca | kāmaṃ tyajata māṃ sarve yūyamanye'pi ye dvijāḥ | mayaivāsya pratijñātaṃ bhoktuṃ śrāddhe mahīpateḥ
ദേവശർമൻ പറഞ്ഞു—നിങ്ങൾ എല്ലാവരും ഇച്ഛിച്ചാൽ എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കൂ; മറ്റു ദ്വിജന്മാരും ഉപേക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ. എന്നാൽ ഞാൻ തന്നേ രാജാവിന്റെ ശ്രാദ്ധത്തിൽ ഭോജനം ചെയ്യുമെന്ന് പ്രതിജ്ഞ ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
