evaṃ bahuvidhaṃ rājā sa vilapya ca duḥkhitaḥ | jagāma nagarābhyāśaṃ padbhyāmeva śanaiḥśanaiḥ
Narrator (Purāṇic narrator voice)
Scene: A dejected king, no longer in chariot, walks slowly on foot toward the city outskirts; dust rises lightly; the city gates recede behind him as twilight or muted daylight frames his solitude.
Suffering humbles even kings; adversity can become the turning point that leads one toward sacred refuge.
No tīrtha is named in this verse; it narrates movement toward the city as part of the larger māhātmya storyline.
