न ददौ स तदा विप्रः साम्ना दानेन वा पुनः । भेदेन च ततो दण्डं योजयामास वै नृपः
na dadau sa tadā vipraḥ sāmnā dānena vā punaḥ | bhedena ca tato daṇḍaṃ yojayāmāsa vai nṛpaḥ
അപ്പോൾ ആ ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ സാമം കൊണ്ടോ ദാനം കൊണ്ടോ അവളെ കൊടുത്തില്ല. അതിനാൽ രാജാവ് ഭേദം ആശ്രയിച്ച് പിന്നെ ദണ്ഡം പ്രയോഗിച്ച് ബലപ്രയോഗത്തിലൂടെ ശിക്ഷ ഏർപ്പെടുത്താൻ മുന്നോട്ടുപോയി.
