कार्पटिक उवाच । किमेषा व्याकुला भद्रे सर्वा जाता महापुरी । निरानन्दाऽश्रुपूर्णाक्षैर्बालवृद्धैर्निषेविता
kārpaṭika uvāca | kimeṣā vyākulā bhadre sarvā jātā mahāpurī | nirānandā'śrupūrṇākṣairbālavṛddhairniṣevitā
കാർപടികൻ പറഞ്ഞു: 'ഹേ ഭദ്രേ! ഈ മഹാനഗരം ഇത്രയധികം അസ്വസ്ഥമായിരിക്കുന്നത് എന്തുകൊണ്ടാണ്? സന്തോഷമില്ലാതെ, കണ്ണീർ നിറഞ്ഞ കണ്ണുകളുള്ള കുട്ടികളാലും വൃദ്ധരാലും ഇത് നിറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.'
