Ṛṣis (Sages)
Tirtha: Camatkārapura-kṣetra
Type: kshetra
Listener: The narrator addressed as ‘mahāmati’ (contextually Sūta, who answers in 17.3)
Scene: An assembly of sages respectfully questioning the narrator about Camatkārapura’s origin, boundaries, and the list of tīrthas and sanctuaries; a map-like sacred landscape hinted behind them with icons for shrines and waterbodies.
Dharma is learned through attentive inquiry: seekers ask for precise sacred geography and the specific powers of tīrthas and shrines.
Camatkārapura-kṣetra is introduced as a sacred region whose tīrthas and sanctuaries merit detailed praise.
No ritual is prescribed; the verse requests authoritative description of sites and their prabhāva (spiritual efficacy).
