यम उवाच । कथंचिदपि विप्रेद्र न मे स्याद्दर्शनं वृथा । अन्येषामपि देवानां तस्मात्प्रार्थय वांछि तम्
yama uvāca | kathaṃcidapi vipredra na me syāddarśanaṃ vṛthā | anyeṣāmapi devānāṃ tasmātprārthaya vāṃchi tam
യമൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ വിപ്രേന്ദ്രാ, എന്റെ നിനക്കുള്ള ദർശനം ഏതുവിധേനയും വ്യർത്ഥമാകരുത്. അതിനാൽ മറ്റു ദേവന്മാരെ സംബന്ധിച്ചും നിനക്കിഷ്ടമുള്ളത് പ്രാർത്ഥിച്ചു ചോദിക്കൂ.
