तस्य कर्णोत्पलानाम जाता कन्या सुशोभना । बहुपुत्रस्य चैका सा सर्वलक्षणलक्षिता
tasya karṇotpalānāma jātā kanyā suśobhanā | bahuputrasya caikā sā sarvalakṣaṇalakṣitā
അവനു ‘കർണോത്പലാ’ എന്ന നാമമുള്ള അത്യന്തം ശോഭനയായ ഒരു കന്യ ജനിച്ചു. അനേകം പുത്രന്മാർ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നിട്ടും, അവളേ അവന്റെ (വിശിഷ്ട) ഏക പുത്രി; സർവ്വശുഭലക്ഷണങ്ങളാൽ ലക്ഷിതയായിരുന്നു.
