शेषाः सर्वे गतिभ्रंशं प्राप्य भूमार्गमाश्रिताः । अथ ते स्वाश्रमं दृष्ट्वा विकृताकारभूषणम् । किमिदंकिमिदं प्रोचुर्यत्तापस्यो विडंबिताः

śeṣāḥ sarve gatibhraṃśaṃ prāpya bhūmārgamāśritāḥ | atha te svāśramaṃ dṛṣṭvā vikṛtākārabhūṣaṇam | kimidaṃkimidaṃ procuryattāpasyo viḍaṃbitāḥ

മറ്റുള്ളവർ എല്ലാവരും മുൻഗതിയുടെ ഭ്രംശം പ്രാപിച്ച് ഭൂമാർഗ്ഗം ആശ്രയിച്ചു. പിന്നെ തങ്ങളുടെ ആശ്രമം വിചിത്രമായി മാറി, വികൃത ‘ആഭരണങ്ങളാൽ’ അലങ്കരിക്കപ്പെട്ടതായി കണ്ടപ്പോൾ അവർ വീണ്ടും വീണ്ടും—“ഇതെന്ത്, ഇതെന്ത്?” എന്നു വിളിച്ചു; തപസ്വിനികൾ പരിഹസിക്കപ്പെട്ടതിനാൽ.
