देवा ऊचुः । तव कांता सती नाम या मृता प्राक्सुरोत्तम । सा जाता मेनकागर्भे गौरी नाम हिमाचलात्
devā ūcuḥ | tava kāṃtā satī nāma yā mṛtā prāksurottama | sā jātā menakāgarbhe gaurī nāma himācalāt
ദേവന്മാർ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ ദേവോത്തമാ! മുൻപ് മരിച്ച നിന്റെ പ്രിയ സതി, മേനകയുടെ ഗർഭത്തിൽ വീണ്ടും ജനിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു; ഹിമാചലന്റെ പുത്രിയായി ‘ഗൗരി’ എന്ന നാമത്തിൽ.
