इति ते कथिता संख्या अर्थं चैषां श्रृणु द्विज । अस्मिन्नर्थे चेति हासं तव वक्ष्यामि यः पुरा
iti te kathitā saṃkhyā arthaṃ caiṣāṃ śrṛṇu dvija | asminnarthe ceti hāsaṃ tava vakṣyāmi yaḥ purā
ഇങ്ങനെ ഞാൻ നിനക്കു അവരുടെ എണ്ണം പറഞ്ഞു; ഇനി ഹേ ദ്വിജാ, അവരുടെ അർത്ഥം കേൾക്കുക. ഈ അർത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ഒരുകാലത്ത് ഹാസ്യത്തിന് കാരണമായ ഉപദേശപരമായ ഒരു പുരാവൃത്തം ഞാൻ നിനക്കു പറയാം.
