वाक्यज्ञेयेषु भिन्नेषु यत्राभेदः प्रदृश्यते । तत्रातिशयहेतुत्वं तत्सौक्ष्म्यमिति निर्दिशेत्
vākyajñeyeṣu bhinneṣu yatrābhedaḥ pradṛśyate | tatrātiśayahetutvaṃ tatsaukṣmyamiti nirdiśet
വാക്യത്തിൽ ഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ട അർത്ഥങ്ങൾ വ്യത്യസ്തമായിട്ടും, എവിടെ അന്തർനിഹിതമായ അഭേദം ദൃശ്യമാകുന്നുവോ—ഉത്കർഷം സൃഷ്ടിക്കുന്ന ബന്ധത്തെ വെളിപ്പെടുത്തുന്ന ആ ശേഷിയെയാണ് ‘സൗക്ഷ്മ്യം’ എന്നു നിർദ്ദേശിക്കുന്നത്।
