दोषाणां च गुणानां च प्रमाणं प्रविभागतः । उभयार्थमपि प्रेक्ष्य सा संख्येत्युपधार्यताम्
doṣāṇāṃ ca guṇānāṃ ca pramāṇaṃ pravibhāgataḥ | ubhayārthamapi prekṣya sā saṃkhyetyupadhāryatām
ദോഷങ്ങളുടെയും ഗുണങ്ങളുടെയും അളവ് യുക്തമായ വിഭജനത്തോടെ നിരൂപിച്ച്, ഇരുപക്ഷ അർത്ഥവും പരിഗണിച്ച്, അതിനെയാണ് ‘സംഖ്യ’ (ഗണന) എന്നു ഗ്രഹിക്കേണ്ടത്।
