इन्द्रद्युम्न उवाच । पृच्छामि त्वामहं ब्रह्मन्यदायुरिदमीदृशम् । तव दीर्घं प्रभावोऽसौ दानस्य तपसोऽथवा
indradyumna uvāca | pṛcchāmi tvāmahaṃ brahmanyadāyuridamīdṛśam | tava dīrghaṃ prabhāvo'sau dānasya tapaso'thavā
ഇന്ദ്രദ്യുമ്നൻ പറഞ്ഞു: 'ഹേ ബ്രാഹ്മണാ! അങ്ങയുടെ ആയുസ്സ് ഇപ്രകാരമായിരിക്കുന്നത് എങ്ങനെയെന്ന് ഞാൻ ചോദിക്കുന്നു. ഈ ദീർഘായുസ്സ് ദാനത്തിന്റെ ഫലമാണോ അതോ തപസ്സിന്റേതാണോ?'
