परेषामनपेक्ष्यैव कृतप्रतिकृतं हि यः । प्रवर्तते हितायैव स सुहृत्प्रोच्यते बुधैः
pareṣāmanapekṣyaiva kṛtapratikṛtaṃ hi yaḥ | pravartate hitāyaiva sa suhṛtprocyate budhaiḥ
മറ്റുള്ളവരെ കാത്തുനിൽക്കാതെ, ചെയ്ത ഉപകാരത്തിന് പ്രത്യുപകാരമായി, പരഹിതത്തിനായി മാത്രം പ്രവർത്തിക്കുന്നവനെയാണ് പണ്ഡിതർ ‘സത്യസുഹൃത്ത്’ എന്നു വിളിക്കുന്നത്।
