dakṣa uvāca | brāhmaṇosi dadhīce tvaṃ kiṃ karomi tavātra vai | dīkṣāmahamaho prāptaḥ kartuṃ nāyāti kiṃcana
Dakṣa
Listener: Ṛṣis (frame audience)
Scene: Dakṣa speaks defensively: acknowledging Dadhīci’s brāhmaṇa status and claiming he is bound by dīkṣā; the yajña setting frames the exchange.
Ritual status and formal consecration can become excuses to avoid ethical correction; true dharma requires humility even during sacred observances.
The Kāśī Khaṇḍa frame continues, but this verse is a dialogue about yajña conduct rather than a tīrtha description.
Dīkṣā (consecration) is referenced as a binding ritual state in yajña, implying constraints and required discipline during the rite.
