सपवित्रौ करौ यस्य यन्नीवी कुशगर्भिणी । यन्मौलिः सशिखाग्रंथिः स ज्ञेयो ब्राह्मणस्त्वया
sapavitrau karau yasya yannīvī kuśagarbhiṇī | yanmauliḥ saśikhāgraṃthiḥ sa jñeyo brāhmaṇastvayā
—ആരുടെ കൈകളിൽ പവിത്രകങ്ങൾ (പവിത്രവലയം) ഉണ്ടോ, ആരുടെ നീവിയിൽ കുശ പുല്ല് ഉൾക്കൊള്ളിച്ചിട്ടുണ്ടോ, ആരുടെ തലയിൽ ശിഖാഗ്രന്ഥിയോടുകൂടിയ മൗളിയുണ്ടോ—അവനെ നീ ബ്രാഹ്മണനെന്നു അറിയുക।
