पृच्छमाना यदा देवै र्नाह ताराऽतिसत्रपा । तदा सा शप्तुमारब्धा कुमारेणातितेजसा
pṛcchamānā yadā devai rnāha tārā'tisatrapā | tadā sā śaptumārabdhā kumāreṇātitejasā
ദേവന്മാർ ചോദിച്ചപ്പോൾ, അത്യന്തം ലജ്ജയിൽ മുങ്ങിയ താരയ്ക്ക് മറുപടി പറയാൻ കഴിഞ്ഞില്ല. അപ്പോൾ അതിതേജസ്വിയായ കുമാരൻ (സ്കന്ദൻ) അവളെ ശപിക്കാൻ ആരംഭിച്ചു।
