Skanda Purana — Brahma Khanda, Shloka 5

भस्मोद्धूलितसर्वांगो जटामंडलमंडितः । वल्कलाजिनसंवीतो भिक्षामात्रपरिग्रहः

bhasmoddhūlitasarvāṃgo jaṭāmaṃḍalamaṃḍitaḥ | valkalājinasaṃvīto bhikṣāmātraparigrahaḥ

അദ്ദേഹത്തിന്റെ സർവ്വാംഗവും ഭസ്മധൂളിയിൽ മൂടപ്പെട്ടിരുന്നു; ജടാമണ്ഡലത്തോടെ അലങ്കൃതനായിരുന്നു. വൽക്കലവസ്ത്രവും മൃഗചർമ്മവും ധരിച്ചു, ഭിക്ഷയെയേ ഏക പരിഗ്രഹമായി സ്വീകരിച്ചു।
