मा ददस्वेति यत्पापं गोवह्निब्राह्मणेषु च । तत्पापं याति विलयं कन्यादानेन पाण्डव

ഹേ പാണ്ഡവാ! ഗാവ്, അഗ്നി, ബ്രാഹ്മണർ എന്നിവയെക്കുറിച്ച് “നൽകരുത്” എന്നു പറയുന്നതാൽ ഉണ്ടാകുന്ന പാപം കന്യാദാനത്താൽ നശിക്കുന്നു।
