दानव उवाच । यदि तुष्टोऽसि मे देव वरं दास्यसि मे प्रभो । सङ्ग्रामैस्तु न तुष्टोऽहं बलं नास्तीति किंचन
dānava uvāca | yadi tuṣṭo'si me deva varaṃ dāsyasi me prabho | saṅgrāmaistu na tuṣṭo'haṃ balaṃ nāstīti kiṃcana
ദാനവൻ പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ ദേവാ! നീ എനിക്കു പ്രസന്നനാണെങ്കിൽ, ഹേ പ്രഭോ! എനിക്ക് ഒരു വരം തരുന്നുവെങ്കിൽ, അറിയുക—യുദ്ധങ്ങളാൽ ഞാൻ തൃപ്തനല്ല; എനിക്കു ബലം ഇല്ലെന്നതല്ല.
