शबर्युवाच । नाहारं चिन्तयाम्यद्य मुक्त्वा देवं वरानने । देवकार्यं विना भद्रे नान्या बुद्धिः प्रवर्तते
śabaryuvāca | nāhāraṃ cintayāmyadya muktvā devaṃ varānane | devakāryaṃ vinā bhadre nānyā buddhiḥ pravartate
ശബരി പറഞ്ഞു—ഹേ വരാനനേ, ഇന്ന് ഞാൻ എന്റെ ആഹാരത്തെക്കുറിച്ച് ചിന്തിക്കുന്നില്ല; ദേവനെ ഒഴികെ എല്ലാം വിട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു. ഹേ ഭദ്രേ, ദേവകാര്യത്തിനല്ലാതെ എന്റെ ബുദ്ധി മറ്റൊന്നിലേക്കു പോകുന്നില്ല.
