ईश्वर उवाच । यदि दास्ये वरं देवि इच्छाभूतं कदाचन । ततो न मंस्यते विष्णुं न ब्रह्माणं न मामपि
īśvara uvāca | yadi dāsye varaṃ devi icchābhūtaṃ kadācana | tato na maṃsyate viṣṇuṃ na brahmāṇaṃ na māmapi
ഈശ്വരൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു—ഹേ ദേവി, ഞാൻ ഒരിക്കലെങ്കിലും അവന്റെ ഇച്ഛാനുസാരമായി മാത്രം വരം നൽകിയാൽ, പിന്നെ അവൻ വിഷ്ണുവിനെയും മാനിക്കുകയില്ല, ബ്രഹ്മാവിനെയും അല്ല, എന്നെയും പോലും അല്ല।
