तिष्ठते गतमर्यादो गतप्राण इव क्षणात् । तावत्सुरपतिर्देवः शशापाथाजितेन्द्रियम्
tiṣṭhate gatamaryādo gataprāṇa iva kṣaṇāt | tāvatsurapatirdevaḥ śaśāpāthājitendriyam
ക്ഷണത്തിൽ തന്നെ അവൻ മര്യാദ നഷ്ടപ്പെടുത്തി പ്രാണമില്ലാത്തവനെപ്പോലെ നിന്നു. അപ്പോൾ ഇന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളെ ജയിക്കാതിരുന്നതിനാൽ ദേവാധിപനായ ഇന്ദ്രൻ അവനെ ശപിച്ചു।
