അന്നുമുതൽ ആ തീർത്ഥം ‘ഭാരഭൂതി’ എന്ന നാമത്തിൽ പ്രസിദ്ധമായി; സർവ്വലോകങ്ങളിലും മഹാപാതകനാശിനിയായി അത് ഖ്യാതി നേടി।
