विशेषाद्यतिधर्मेण तपोलौल्यं समाश्रिताः । नरकं यान्त्यसन्दिग्धमित्येवं शङ्करोऽब्रवीत्
viśeṣādyatidharmeṇa tapolaulyaṃ samāśritāḥ | narakaṃ yāntyasandigdhamityevaṃ śaṅkaro'bravīt
പ്രത്യേകമായി യതി-ധർമ്മം സ്വീകരിച്ചിട്ടും തപസ്സിനോടുള്ള ലോഭാസക്തിയിൽ കുടുങ്ങുന്നവർ സംശയമില്ലാതെ നരകത്തിലേക്ക് പോകുന്നു—ഇങ്ങനെ ശങ്കരൻ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.
