एवमुक्तस्तु विप्रोऽसौ कथयामास भारत । भार्याया यद्दिवा वृत्तं शङ्कमानो नृपोत्तम
evamuktastu vipro'sau kathayāmāsa bhārata | bhāryāyā yaddivā vṛttaṃ śaṅkamāno nṛpottama
ഇങ്ങനെ പറഞ്ഞപ്പോൾ ആ ബ്രാഹ്മണൻ, ഹേ ഭാരതാ, പകൽ ഭാര്യയെ സംബന്ധിച്ച് സംഭവിച്ചതെല്ലാം വിവരിക്കാൻ തുടങ്ങി; ശ്രേഷ്ഠനായ രാജാവ് സംശയത്തോടെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചു കേട്ടു।
