Shiva Purana — Vayaviya Samhita, Shloka 47

स्कन्दसरः (Skandasara) — तीर्थवर्णनम् / Description of the Skandasara Sacred Lake

paraṃ phalaṃ samuddiśya tatprāpnoti na saṃśayaḥ | purātanāśca rājāno viprā vaiśyāśca sattamāḥ

FAQs

It teaches that when the seeker fixes intention on the highest goal—union with and grace of Pati (Shiva)—the promised spiritual fruit is certainly attained; unwavering aim and faith remove doubt and lead toward liberation.

Linga-worship is a concrete Saguna support for focusing the mind on the supreme fruit; by directing devotion and resolve to Shiva through the Linga, the practitioner becomes eligible for Shiva’s grace, which culminates in the highest attainment.

The verse emphasizes saṅkalpa (clear spiritual resolve): worship Shiva with steady intention—such as daily Linga-pūjā with Panchakshara japa (Om Namaḥ Śivāya)—keeping the supreme fruit (moksha through Shiva’s grace) as the aim.
