Suta Goswami
Tattva Level: pashu
Shiva Form: Pashupatinatha
Sthala Purana: General dharma of concluding worship: pradakṣiṇā, praṇāma, ātma-samarpaṇa, and honoring guru/brāhmaṇas in the Lord’s presence.
Significance: Frames pūjā as leading to humility and surrender; honoring guru and vipras is treated as honoring Śiva’s own channels of anugraha (grace).
Role: teaching
Offering: pushpa
It teaches that true Śiva-bhakti is completed by humility: after outward acts of devotion (pradakṣiṇā and praṇāma), one offers the ego itself (ātma-samarpaṇa) and honors the channels of dharma—guru and brāhmaṇas—in Śiva’s presence.
In Liṅga/Saguṇa worship, circumambulation and prostration are core upacāras; the verse adds that the worshipper should then, before the Lord, revere guru and brāhmaṇas—affirming that Śiva is pleased when His devotee respects sacred knowledge and righteous conduct.
Perform clockwise pradakṣiṇā and full praṇāma, then practice ātma-samarpaṇa (inner surrender) and offer respectful pūjā/namaskāra and dāna to the guru and learned brāhmaṇas as part of the Śiva-pūjā sequence.
