पञ्चधा ऽवस्थितः सर्गो ध्यायतस्त्वभिमानिनः । सर्वतस्तमसातीव बीजकुम्भवदावृतः । बहिरन्तश्चाप्रकाशः स्तब्धो निःसंज्ञ एव च । तस्मात्तेषां वृता बुद्धिर्मुखानि करणानि च
pañcadhā 'vasthitaḥ sargo dhyāyatastvabhimāninaḥ | sarvatastamasātīva bījakumbhavadāvṛtaḥ | bahirantaścāprakāśaḥ stabdho niḥsaṃjña eva ca | tasmātteṣāṃ vṛtā buddhirmukhāni karaṇāni ca
അഭിമാനിയായവൻ ധ്യാനമാത്രത്തിൽ നിലകൊണ്ടപ്പോൾ സൃഷ്ടി പഞ്ചവിധാവസ്ഥകളായി നിലനിന്നു. അത് സർവ്വത്ര ഘനതമസ്സാൽ വിത്തിന്റെ പുറംചട്ടപോലെ ആവൃതമായിരുന്നു; പുറത്തും അകത്തും പ്രകാശമില്ല, എല്ലാം സ്തബ്ധവും അചേതനമെന്നപോലെയും. അതിനാൽ അവരുടെ ബുദ്ധിയും മുഖങ്ങളും കർമ്മേന്ദ്രിയ-ജ്ഞാനേന്ദ്രിയങ്ങളും മറഞ്ഞും തടസ്സപ്പെട്ടും നിന്നു.
