Sūta Gosvāmin (traditional Purāṇic colophon framing, narrated to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
Tattva Level: pati
Sthala Purana: Colophon marking the completion of a doctrinal chapter (“Śiva-tattva-varṇana”) within the creation narrative; no specific shrine-origin is narrated here.
Cosmic Event: Sṛṣṭyupākhyāna frame: theological grounding of creation in Śiva-tattva (Pati as ultimate cause).
This is a colophon marking the completion of a chapter devoted to Śiva-tattva—Śiva as the supreme Reality (Pati). Spiritually, it signals that the creation narrative is grounded in the understanding that liberation arises from knowing Śiva’s true principle, not merely cosmic events.
Though the line is a chapter-end marker, the title “Śiva-tattva-varṇana” points to the doctrinal base for worship: devotees approach the Nirguṇa reality through Saguna forms—especially the Śiva-liṅga—using devotion and right understanding of Śiva as the ultimate Lord.
The implied takeaway is śiva-tattva-cintana (contemplation on Śiva’s principle) alongside standard Śaiva upāsanā—japa of the Pañcākṣarī (Om Namaḥ Śivāya) and liṅga-pūjā—since the chapter’s theme is knowledge of Śiva as the liberating truth.
