Sūta Gosvāmin (narrator concluding the chapter to the sages of Naimiṣāraṇya)
This is a chapter-colophon marking the completion of the episode about Viṣṇu and Brahmā’s dispute, reminding the reader that even the highest deities are subject to limitation and that true supremacy belongs to Pati (Śiva), who dissolves pride and restores right knowledge.
The titled chapter signals the narrative context in which the Linga principle commonly appears as the revelatory form that ends rivalry and establishes Saguna worship as a practical doorway to realizing Shiva’s transcendence beyond ego and comparison.
As a takeaway from the dispute-theme, the recommended practice is humility-centered japa of the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with reverence to the Śiva-Liṅga, supported by simple Śiva-pūjā (water offering) to reduce ahaṅkāra and cultivate devotion.
