दीपो देयस्ततस्तस्मै शंकराय घृतप्लुतः । अर्घं दद्यात्पुनस्तस्मै मंत्रेणानेन भक्तितः
dīpo deyastatastasmai śaṃkarāya ghṛtaplutaḥ | arghaṃ dadyātpunastasmai maṃtreṇānena bhaktitaḥ
അതിനുശേഷം നെയ്യിൽ നനഞ്ഞ ദീപം ആ ഭഗവാൻ ശങ്കരനു സമർപ്പിക്കണം. പിന്നെയും ഭക്തിയോടെ ഈ മന്ത്രത്തോടുകൂടെ അവനു അർഘ്യം (ആദരജലം) അർപ്പിക്കണം.

Significance: Highlights dīpa-dāna and arghya as honorific offerings to Śiva; lamp symbolizes removal of avidyā (pāśa) and arghya signifies surrender and welcome to the Lord.
Offering: dipa
The verse teaches that devotion expressed through sacred offerings—light (dīpa) and respectful arghya—purifies the devotee and turns the mind toward Śiva, the auspicious Pati, making worship inwardly luminous as well as outwardly proper.
In Saguna worship, Śiva is approached through tangible rites. Offering a ghee lamp and arghya are classic upacāras used in Liṅga-pūjā, honoring Śiva as present and receptive to devotion while guiding the devotee toward His higher, transcendent reality.
Perform dīpa-dāna (offering a ghee lamp) and then offer arghya while reciting the prescribed mantra with steady bhakti; the practical takeaway is mantra-yukta pūjā—ritual joined to focused remembrance.
