It teaches that kama-driven perception degrades the soul and brings immediate inner and outer weakness; honoring dharma and purity of intention protects spiritual strength (śakti) and supports the Shaiva aim of self-mastery leading toward liberation.
Saguna Shiva is the guardian of dharma; this verse reflects Shiva’s role as moral governor who upholds sanctity and restraint. In Linga-worship, devotees approach Shiva with śuddha-bhāva (pure intent), not with desire-driven objectification.
Cultivate brahmacarya and śuddha-dṛṣṭi (pure gaze) through japa of the Panchākṣarī “Om Namaḥ Śivāya,” and maintain devotional discipline (e.g., Tripuṇḍra-bhasma and Rudrākṣa) as reminders to restrain kama and honor dharma.
