Dakṣa’s Appeal to Viṣṇu and the Teaching on Disrespect to Śiva

It shows that when the mind is clouded by grief and wrong understanding, the corrective movement is śiva-smaraṇa—turning the heart toward Pati (Lord Shiva), the source of grace that dissolves bondage and restores right vision.
Viṣṇu’s remembrance of Śiva points to saguna-upāsanā as a practical refuge: by recalling Shiva (often through the Linga as a stable support for devotion), one returns from delusion and ego to reverence and alignment with dharma.
The takeaway is smaraṇa with mantra-japa—especially the Pañcākṣarī (“Om Namaḥ Śivāya”)—as a steadying practice when the mind becomes disturbed; it supports humility, clarity, and devotion.
