Hearing the Heavenly Voice; The Gaṇas Seek Refuge; Account of Satī’s Self-Immolation
tvatpreṣitatṛṇenāpi mahatkāryaṃ mayatnataḥ | kṣaṇena śakyate kartuṃ śaṃkarātra na saṃśayaḥ
Satī (addressing Lord Śiva/Śaṅkara)
Tattva Level: pati
Shiva Form: Sadāśiva
Shakti Form: Satī
Role: nurturing
It teaches that Śiva’s śakti (grace-power) is the true doer: when an act is aligned with Śiva’s will, even the smallest means becomes capable of accomplishing vast results, emphasizing surrender and divine agency.
In Saguna worship (such as Linga-pūjā), the devotee offers simple items with devotion; this verse underscores that the efficacy of offerings is not their size but Śiva’s anugraha (grace) received through bhakti and right intention.
Practice śaraṇāgati with steady japa of the Pañcākṣarī mantra ("Om Namaḥ Śivāya") and simple Linga offerings, cultivating the attitude that results arise by Śiva’s grace rather than personal strain.
