The verse defines Manmatha as the force born from “churning/agitation,” highlighting kāma as a mind-stirring power that must be understood and mastered on the Shaiva path, where liberation comes through inner steadiness and Shiva-oriented consciousness.
By naming desire as an agitator, the text implicitly points to Linga-worship and Saguna Shiva-bhakti as disciplines that stabilize the mind—redirecting restless impulses toward Shiva, the supreme Pati who grants purity and freedom from bondage (pāśa).
A practical takeaway is mantra-japa (especially Shiva-focused japa such as “Om Namaḥ Śivāya”) with breath-aware meditation to calm mental agitation and transform desire into devotion and self-control.
