Sukta 1.169
प्रति घोराणामेतानामयासां मरुतां शृण्व आयतामुपब्दिः । ये मर्त्यं पृतनायन्तमूमैॠणावानं न पतयन्त सर्गैः ॥
práti ghorā́ṇām étānām ayā́sāṃ marútāṃ śṛṇva āyatā́m upabdíḥ | yé mártyaṃ pṛtanāyántaṃ ū́maiḥ ṛṇavā́naṃ ná patáyanta sárgaiḥ ||
ഈ ഭയങ്കരവും അശ്രാന്തവുമായ മരുৎകളുടെ അടുത്തെത്തുന്ന ഈ ഗർജ്ജനം പ്രത്യുത്തരമായി കേൾക്കുക; അവരുടെ ഉപബ്ദി (ഇടിമുഴക്കം) സമീപിക്കുന്നു. യുദ്ധത്തിൽ പോരാടുന്ന മർത്ത്യനെ അവർ തങ്ങളുടെ വേഗധാവനകളാൽ വീഴാൻ അനുവദിക്കുന്നില്ല; പകരം അവനെ കടത്തിക്കൊണ്ടുപോകുന്നു—അങ്ങനെ ദൗർബല്യത്തിന്റെ കടത്തിൽ കുടുങ്ങിയവൻ ബലത്തിന്റെ മുന്നേറ്റപ്രവാഹത്തിലേക്ക് മോചിതനാകുന്നു.
