गायत्रेण प्रति मिमीते अर्कमर्केण साम त्रैष्टुभेन वाकम् । वाकेन वाकं द्विपदा चतुष्पदाक्षरेण मिमते सप्त वाणीः ॥
gāyatréṇa práti mimīte arkám arkéṇa sā́ma traiṣṭúbhena vākám | vākéna vākáṃ dvipádā́ cátuṣpadā́kṣáreṇa mimate saptá vā́ṇīḥ ||
ഗായത്രിയാൽ അവൻ അർക്ക്—സ്തുതിഗാനം—അളക്കുന്നു; അർക്കാൽ സാമ—ഗാനം—അളക്കുന്നു; ത്രിഷ്ടുഭാൽ വാക്—ഉച്ചരിതവാണി—അളക്കുന്നു. വാണിയാൽ വാണിയെ തന്നെ അളക്കുന്നു—ദ്വിപദയും ചതുഷ്പദയും; അക്ഷരം—അവിനാശി അക്ഷരം—കൊണ്ട് അവർ ഏഴ് വാണികൾ (വാണിശക്തികൾ) അളക്കുന്നു.
