Sukta 1.10
गायन्ति त्वा गायत्रिणोऽर्चन्त्यर्कमर्किणः । ब्रह्माणस्त्वा शतक्रत उद्वंशमिव येमिरे ॥
gā́yanti tvā gāyatríṇo ’rcánty arkam arkíṇaḥ | brahmā́ṇas tvā śatakrato úd vaṃśám iva yemire ||
ഗായത്രിയുടെ ഗായകർ നിന്നെ പാടുന്നു; ഋചിയുടെ ഋഷികൾ തേജോമയമായ അർക (സ്തുതി-വചനം) അർച്ചിക്കുന്നു. ഹേ ശതക്രതു, ബ്രാഹ്മണർ നിന്നെ വംശം (മുളങ്കോൽ) ഉയർത്തുന്നതുപോലെ ഉയർത്തുന്നു—ബഹുവിധ കർമശക്തി ഞങ്ങളിലേയ്ക്ക് നേരെ നിലകൊണ്ട് ഉർദ്ധ്വഗതിയിലേക്കു നയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്.
