Sarga 93: Rāvaṇa’s Grief and Fury after Indrajit’s Fall; Move to Slay Vaidehī and Ministerial Restraint
इत्येवंमैथिलींदृष्टवाविलपन्तींतपस्विनीम् ।रोहिणीमिवचन्द्रेणविनाग्रहवशंगताम् ।।6.93.61।।एतस्मिन्नन्तरेतस्यअमात्यःशीलवान् शुचिः ।सुपार्श्वोनाममेधावीरावणंरक्षसेश्वरम् ।।6.93.62।।निवार्यमाणःसचिवैरिदंवचनमब्रवीत् ।
etasminnantare tasya amātyaḥ śīlavān śuciḥ |
supārśvo nāma medhāvī rāvaṇaṃ rākṣaseśvaram || 6.93.62 ||
nivāryamāṇaḥ sacivair idaṃ vacanam abravīt |
അപ്പോൾ തന്നേ, രാക്ഷസേശ്വരനായ രാവണന്റെ ശീലവാനും ശുചിയും മേധാവിയുമായ അമാത്യൻ സുപാർശ്വൻ അവനെ അഭിസംബോധന ചെയ്തു; മറ്റു ഉപദേശകർ തടഞ്ഞിട്ടും അവൻ ഈ വചനം പറഞ്ഞു.
Seeing Mythili in this manner grieving, just as Rohini fell under the sway of the Mars planet in the absence of the moon, being away from her husband, Suparsva, an upright minister of Ravana who was pure and wise spoke these words of advice to the Lord of Rakshasas in spite of other ministers trying to stop him.
Dharma is upheld through fearless, principled counsel: a wise minister should speak for righteousness even when pressured by peers.
After Sītā is seen grieving, a minister named Suparśva steps forward to advise Rāvaṇa, despite other ministers trying to stop him.
Ministerial integrity (śīla) and purity of intent (śuci): wisdom expressed as moral courage in counsel.
