The Slaying of Kumbhakarna
ततस्ससंज्ञामुपलभ्यकृच्छ्राद्बलीयसस्तस्यभुजान्तरस्थः ।अवेक्षमाणःपुरसाजमार्गंविचिन्तयामासमुहुर्महात्मा ।।।।
tatas sa saṁjñām upalabhya kṛcchrād balīyasaḥ tasya bhujāntarasthaḥ |
avekṣamāṇaḥ purasājamārgaṁ vicintayāmāsa muhur mahātmā ||
അപ്പോൾ ആ ബലവാനായ രാക്ഷസന്റെ കൈകൾക്കുള്ളിൽ കിടന്നുകൊണ്ട്, കഷ്ടപ്പെട്ട് ബോധം വീണ്ടെടുത്ത മഹാത്മാവ് നഗരത്തിലെ രാജവീഥി കണ്ട് അല്പനേരം ചിന്തിച്ചു.
(Sugriva) being strong and painfully gained senses, from the arms of the great Rakshasa, started looking at the royal path of the city. He was bewildered and started pondering this way.
Dharma here is disciplined judgment under pressure: even in pain and danger, Sugrīva pauses to assess the situation rather than acting blindly.
Sugrīva has been seized by Kumbhakarṇa; he regains awareness and scans the city’s main road, considering his next move.
Presence of mind (dhairya) and strategic reflection (nīti-buddhi) amid crisis.
