Kumbhakarna’s Counsel and War-Boast to Ravana
अद्यशोकपरीतानांस्वबन्धुवधकारणात् ।शत्रोर्युधिविनाशेनकरोम्यस्रप्रमार्जनम् ।।6.63.38।।
adya śokaparītānāṃ svabandhuvadhakāraṇāt | śatror yudhi vināśena karomy aśrupramārjanam ||6.63.38||
ഇന്ന്, സ്വന്തം ബന്ധുക്കളുടെ വധം മൂലം ശോകാകുലരായവരുടെ കണ്ണുനീർ, യുദ്ധത്തിൽ ശത്രുവിനെ നശിപ്പിച്ച്, ഞാൻ തുടച്ചുമാറ്റും.
Now I will wipe the tears of Rakshasas who lost their kin and are bewailing their loss.
It shows a common ethical error: seeking to heal loss through further harm. Ramayana dharma emphasizes that right ends cannot be pursued through unrighteous means.
The speaker motivates action by promising to avenge the slain Rākṣasas and thereby comfort the grieving populace.
Valor is emphasized, but ethically mis-aimed—courage used for vengeance rather than protection of righteousness.
